The research work on the documentary THE DEBT COLLECTORS (original title: DIE GELDEINTREIBER) dragged on for months. Because no one who owes debts is eager to stand in front of a camera. The film recounts how an industry deliberately takes in stride that people fall deeper and deeper in a downhill slide and lose control over their lives just so that it can make a profit. These people ultimately turn into “debt slaves”, the experts’ term for this phenomenon.
